Tinea Versicolor: This is a fungal infection which can affect the trunk, neck, and upper body. It usually occurs in areas where there is significant humidity and warm weather. It is usually caused by yeasts referred to as Pityrosporon. It is often noted when skin fails to tan in the warm weather. There is often a mild scaling associated with it. The treatment is with topical antifungal agents. Sometimes oral medication is also necessary if the treatment area is too large.
